It was closer than in 2023, but the outcome remains the same. Already last year against Daniil Medvedev at the Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, Carlos Alcaraz did it again, on Sunday March 17, 7-6, 6-1 in 1h41. The Spaniard, the winner of Jannik Sinner in the last round, took the lead after a contested deciding game (7-5), before losing in the second set. Here he is now with five Masters 1000s at age 20, his first this season.

Often hampered by physical injuries in recent months, Carlos Alcaraz seems to have used the California week to gain momentum for the start of the US tour. If the bees distracted him for a few hours, the world number 2 is back at the highest level.

A long-awaited comeback, one that hasn’t won a single title since its Wimbledon crown last year. In the press conference after his final, the Spaniard returned to this long period of doubt: “I had a really difficult few months. Let’s say that these last two months I had a hard time finding myself. I wasn’t happy, let’s say, when I entered the field. People around me told me that I laughed. I wasn’t myself these two, three months, it didn’t matter it is difficult to win this tournament, because I overcame mental and physical problems.
