The fear has passed. Still, it was a great Monday, March 18, for Arthur Cazaux and the crowd at the Masters 1000 in Miami. The 21-year-old, world number 74, a revelation at the last Australian Open where he reached the last 16, was leading 4-6, 7-5, 2-1 when he collapsed as he prepared to return his opponent’s serve. The Montpellier resident, evacuated in a wheelchair, gave up and was transported to a Miami hospital.

This Tuesday, Arthur Cazaux wanted to reassure his family. “I’m better. I just left the hospital in Miami after spending the night in the hospital for treatment and a long series of tests. Today my physical condition is better”wrote the Frenchman on his Instagram profile on Tuesday.

“My blood pressure and my heart remained stable. In the end it was more of a fear than a pity. Now my body needs to rest and I hope to be back on the courts as soon as possible.”

The match, which counts for the first round of qualifications, lasted more than two hours, was played in difficult weather conditions (the temperature was above 30°C), when Arthur Cazaux collapsed. In his account X, his opponent of the day Harold Mayot indicated that “It’s been a few games since he wasn’t feeling well and they started cramping him.”

“I didn’t see him fall and I thought he was lying down because he had a spasm. When I realized it was serious, I immediately went to him and I was very worried”he added.
