João Almeida and UAE Team Emirates won the team time trial ahead of Team Jayco-AlUla and Soudal Quick-Step. American Brandon McNulty took the yellow shirt.
After two mass sprint finishes, the drivers had the chance to shine on the roads of Auxerre (Yonne) during the third stage of Paris-Nice, Tuesday 5 March. In the team time trial which marked the arrival of rain mid-race, João Almeida UAE Team Emirates won quite comfortably by 15 seconds ahead of Jayco-AlUla and 20 seconds ahead of EF Education-EasyPost.
Punished by heavy rain at the end of the course, Bora-Hansgrohe’s Primoz Roglic finished 54 seconds ahead of the leader, and therefore lost more than 30 seconds to Remco Evenepoel, his main competitor in the general classification. David Gaudu, who went last with Groupama-FDJ, crossed the line one minute behind UAE. On Wednesday, the favorites will show themselves on the roads of Mont Brouilly, at the finish line of the fourth stage.
