Meeting with another audience

“When you are in the cathedral, there is a certain serenity that moves into your soul. I have the same feeling when I go to the theater.” confides Roberto Alagna, who was born into a family of very religious Sicilian origins. So when the producer suggested him to come and sing in churches, the tenor thought the idea was brilliant, but not only because he felt good there.

For Robert Alagna, who sang in Milan’s Scala and New York’s Metropolitan, it is also an opportunity to meet an audience that does not go to operas. “There is a possibility to enter them much more easily. It’s very simple, it’s not suffocating.” he says.

Revolutionary song Bella ciao again

In this adventure full of spirituality, Roberto Alagna sings accompanied by Jean-Félix Lalanne on guitar and Marek Ruszczyński on piano. Two artists with whom he released his last album. The tenor interprets religious texts such as Our fatherworks from the opera as well as more well-known titles.

“I didn’t want to present a program that was aimed at the elite or the community, it affects everyone a little bit.” explains the tenor. Indeed, on stage Roberto Alagna revisits revolutionary Italian singing Bella bye which celebrates the dedication of resistance fighters during World War II against German troops. “In the beginning it is a song in Yiddish, truly religious, that touches the soul” he recalls.
