“Today I have the opportunity to fulfill my childhood dream: to drive a Ferrari.” In a long message on X (formerly Twitter), published on Saturday February 3, Lewis Hamilton gave his first impressions after the transfer that caused a real shock wave in the paddock. The Briton particularly expressed his pride at joining the showjumping team, but did not forget to thank Mercedes, assuring the German company of his full commitment in the coming season.

Lewis Hamilton is not “Mister” for nothing. Always elegant and diplomatic, the Englishman politely explained his departure from Mercedes to Ferrari in 2025. The driver with 103 Grand Prix victories first thanked Mercedes with whom he spent time “eleven amazing years”: “I feel especially lucky to have been able to achieve achievements that I would not have dared to dream of as a child.”

The Brit obviously does not forget his mentor Toto Wolff, “for his friendship, advice and guidance. Together we won titles, broke records and formed the most successful driver and team duo in Formula 1 history.” In such conditions, Hamilton admits that the choice to leave the parent company was not easy. “It was the most difficult decision in my career”it says.

However, “It was time for a change. I remember that feeling of jumping into the unknown when I joined Mercedes in 2013.continues. “A lot of people didn’t understand that at the time, but time has proven that I was right. I feel the same way today. I’m looking forward to what I can bring to Ferrari.” But Lewis Hamilton is not yet in Maranello and wants to reassure fans of the star for the upcoming season: “I am physically fitter and more focused to help Mercedes win again. I am 100% dedicated to my job and determined to leave my partnership with Mercedes on a positive note.” The first element of the response on March 2, for the season opener in Bahrain.
