Cyclist Chris Hoy, a six-time Olympic track champion, revealed on Friday, February 16, on social media that he is suffering from cancer. In treatment, the British man said to himself “optimistic and positive” for the future. He did not specify the nature of his cancer, which, as he wrote, was diagnosed last year: “A terrible shock because I had no symptoms at the time.

As you can imagine, these last few months have been terribly difficult. But for now I feel good, continue to work, ride my bike and lead a normal life“, he reassures, adding that he had “he hoped this information would be kept secret,” but yes we “forced his hand”.

Born in Edinburgh, Chris Hoy competed in four Olympic Games. After winning silver in the team sprint in 2000 in Sydney, four years later in Athens he won his first individual Olympic title in the kilometer. His record was enriched with three new gold medals in Beijing (2008) and two more in London (2012). He is the second most successful British athlete at the Games. Chris Hoy, who retired from the sport in 2013, also holds eleven world titles.
