Discovering the Land of the Rising Sun, without flying, through an exhibition "Japan of passion", at La Sucrière, in Lyon, until November 2. (THIRTY SEVEN)

A plane ticket to Japan is not for everyone. So while I wait for this trip to the land of the rising sun, the exhibition Japan of passion offers us an immersive experience at La Sucrière in Lyon until November 2.

The route captures the Japanese archipelago in every nook and cranny, as if we were there.

Imagine being captured, from the moment you enter the zen atmosphere of Japanese temples. First step: participate in the ancient rituals of Shinto and Buddhism. On the tree that stands inside, visitors write their wishes, as tradition dictates.

As you walk in, every room is decorated in an authentic way, from the restaurant where you can almost bite into the sushi to the bed placed on the floor, as is the custom in Japan. The details are designed to provide an almost real experience.

Designed by Europa Expo, we discover the tradition of yesterday and today. Objects, decorations, gardens, manga, animations, conferences and even karaoke, the exhibition marks a stop on many aspects Japan through the centuries.

One aspect is conservative, the other more modern. One draws attention to ancestral traditions such as the tea ceremony in a typical apartment in old Tokyo. For some visitors, like Gaspard, a ten-year-old boy born in Tokyo, this scene is “a return to the sources full of emotions”. The second part of the exhibition recalls the universal influence of Japanese pop culture. The famous Grendizer, Mario, Dragon Ball or Pikachu in human size pose for souvenir selfies. Heroines from movies or manga are the stars of the exhibition.
