Second win in two races. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won again. Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on Saturday March 9, ahead of Mexican Sergio Pérez, his Red Bull teammate, and Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). The three-time world champion maintained his pole position advantage and led the race from the first lap.

The Red Bull driver was relegated to second place with just five laps to go, when the safety car entered the track after Lance Stroll’s crash on lap 7. The Canadian hit the inside wall in the corner, before being tossed to the outside wall. Max Verstappen took advantage of the incident in the pits, before regaining his lead on lap 13, after a brief handover with Lando Norris (McLaren).

Alpine still in trouble

A week after his grand inaugural victory in Sakhir, Bahrain Grand Prix, the Dutch driver continues to establish his supremacy in the paddock, despite the harmful climate that plagues his barn. The other historic achievement since the last driver to win the first two races of the year was Sebastien Vettel in 2018, with Ferrari. The German finally finished second in the world championship, behind Lewis Hamilton.

In Jeddah, the French did not shine. Pierre Gasly (Alpine) was forced to retire in the second round, due to problems that the French team had already reported during qualifying. His teammate, Esteban Ocon, finished 13th and is yet to score a point this season, after finishing 17th in Bahrain last week.
