Every year, the festival gathers 300,000 participants, a large, family and eclectic audience for an always festive event. 48h BD was created on the initiative of 12 comics publishers united in an association to bring 9th art closer to as many people as possible. The entire bookstore chain is being mobilized, mostly independent bookstores that coordinate meetings with schools and media libraries. The principle of 48h BD is simple, it offers a selection of comics ranging from comics to manga including French-Belgian, at a lower price. And that will be the case again for the 12th edition, which takes place on April 5 and 6.

A selection of 15 titles is available in more than 1,500 bookstores. In bookstores participating in the campaign, 250,000 copies of these albums are sold at a price of 3 euros. This year, the selected albums are mostly children’s albums. An intuitive editor’s choice.
Many schools host the event and receive comic books as prizes. Every year since its foundation, 48H BD offers albums to the association (previously Bibliothèques sans frontières, Coucou nous voilou, Biblionef) and, since 2020, to the National Group of Public Social and Medical-Social Institutions (GEPSo) in order to promote access to books for children and young people .

More than 500 original animations and numerous authors

Fun and diverse, all about comics, will take place in bookstores and libraries, but also outside the walls, in schools and hospitals and on the Internet. More than 300 authors will meet their readers and offer original, fun and varied activities. All are paid for the activities they lead.

It is the sale of albums for 3 euros that enables the compensation of the author’s contribution and the financing of donations of 50,000 copies that are offered as donations. Several activity grants available on the 48hbd.com website are also available to teaching staff.

The festival is also followed on the web and networks, with non-stop Live BD on YouTube from Wednesday April 3 to Friday April 5, meetings, Master Classes, debates, tutorials, battles.
